frequently asked questions
Sapphires make a very durable choice for your engagement ring! They are a 9 on mohs hardness scale, meaning not much besides a diamond or moissanite can scratch them.
Sapphires come in a wide range of prices, depending on if they're lab grown or natural, and what their country of origin is. Their price is largely determined by their carat weight and how highly desired their specific shade is. On average, they tend to be slightly less expensive compared to their diamond counterparts.
At this time, Hitched will only work with heirloom gemstones that are currently in their original settings. Hitched does not work with any loose gemstones unless they have been purchased at Hitched.
That's where the fun comes in! Sapphires are an incredibly unique gemstone, with a lot of stones having multi-colors, shades, and dimension.
If you're looking for a more traditional look, we recommend a deep royal blue. For something more nature-inspired, a soft green. For something fun and artistic, a yellow or pink can make a great choice!
Natural sapphires are formed in the ground over millions of years. They tend to have rich shades with multi-color dimension. Due to their uniqueness and rarity, they tend to be priced at a higher premium compared to their lab counterparts.
Lab-grown sapphires are synthesized in a lab that replicates the process that occurs underground. Their color tends to be one shade, and overall appears more saturated or pale in tone (depending on the color). Due to their color difference, they tend to be priced at a lower price point compared to their natural counterparts.
