Hailey Bieber’s Iconic Oval Engagement Ring
We all know that oval diamonds have been all the rage in recent years. Elongated with a brilliant cut, they compliment most individuals’ fingers exceedingly well. It almost seems as if the oval hyper-fixation popped up out of nowhere. However, it would be hard to argue that Hailey Bieber’s engagement in 2018 didn’t have anything to do with it. Hailey’s trendsetting ring - an estimated 6-10 CT oval on a classic solitaire setting with a hidden halo - became an icon for the “cool-girl aesthetic.” Suddenly, oval diamonds started popping up everywhere! Trending but classic, this is a recent example of a celebrity influencing diamond shopping trends in the digital age.

2025 Engagement Ring Trends
This now brings us to 2025, which was a big year for celebrity engagements. We are starting to see diamond trends shift towards other elongated shapes. While the oval still remains a staple, clients are now increasingly being drawn towards Marquises, Elongated Cushions, and other vintage cuts.
Selena Gomez’s Marquise Diamond
While technically announced in December 2024, Selena Gomez’s engagement ring announcement featuring a stunning Marquise Diamond with a pavé band, effectively shook up the internet. Selena Gomez is the most followed woman on Instagram, so it’s no surprise that her engagement would shake up trends. It is a very unique fancy diamond shape - with a high length-to-width ratio and pointed corners. The marquise also looks the largest per carat so people can effectively get the most “bang for their buck.” There has been a large surge in Marquise interest since her announcement, and we expect the trend to continue in upcoming years.

Zendaya’s East-West Engagement Ring
While there has not been an official engagement post on social media, when Zendaya stepped out on the 2025 Golden Globes red carpet, it was hard to miss the gorgeous East-West Elongated Cushion engagement ring sitting on her left ring finger. Most elongated cushions have a well-known “crushed-ice” effect caused by extra faceting created in the diamond cutting process - these facets give the diamonds extra sparkle. Zendaya’s East-West engagement ring setting also provided an extra uniqueness to the piece that we’ve seen trending in recent months, as many clients are striving for a look they don’t see everyday. And for an extra added perk, East-West settings provide additional room for a bridal ring stack.
Taylor Swift Old Mine Cut Engagement Ring
Then, in August 2025 the internet broke once again with the engagement of pop-icon Taylor Swift. Her custom engagement ring features an Old Mine Cut center diamond with a hand engraved band. While exact specifications haven’t been released on the piece, the stone appears to be greater than 7CTs with a very elongated ratio. There has been an overall spike in interest regarding antique cuts and vintage style rings since the announcement. At Hitched, we also recently created a vintage-inspired Old Mine Cut piece - see it here.

Engagement Ring Trend Predictions for 2026
We don’t expect elongated shapes to be going anywhere anytime soon! Most elongated shapes hold a lot of weight on their face so they tend to look larger per carat than some of the circular or square shapes. We predict that Marquises and Old Mine Cuts will continue to grow in popularity, with customized vintage settings specially designed to accompany them. We’ve also seen warmer diamonds on the rise, along with yellow gold settings. However, with the price of gold recently reaching an all-time high, we do predict Platinum to become a more highly-desired choice - once the more expensive metal, it recently has become the same price, if not cheaper, than gold in terms of jewelry-making.
