Philadelphia Concept Makes Its Georgetown Debut
Derived from the annual Old City Wedding Stroll event in Philadelphia, ‘Hitched on Main Street’ made its debut in Georgetown on May 6th, 2026. Dozens of engaged couples took to Georgetown Main Street for a fun night full of wedding planning festivities, and a chance to win a grand prize wedding giveaway package worth over $3,500 in value.
In planning for the first annual event, the goal was to keep things intimate by including just one local Georgetown business from each of the different major wedding planning categories. The ‘stroll’ format of the event incorporated a ‘passport’ concept to encourage each couple to stop by all participating business locations to become eligible to win the giveaway. Doing so allowed for a laid back experience and fostered valuable conversations between attendees and vendors.

The Idea for a Georgetown Wedding Stroll
When Hitched first launched, we were exclusively a men’s wedding band brand with a home try-on model. It was in November of 2019 that we opened our first retail space in Old City, Philadelphia. This gave us an opportunity to interact with clients face-to-face and provide them with an in person experience, something we pride ourselves on to this day.
As we continued to expand our wedding band offerings and reach in the community, we started to notice more and more wedding businesses opening up around us - from bridal and suit shops, to florists, photographers, and more. This discovery led to an idea: what if we could bring all of these businesses together for one night to promote their wedding day offerings to couples?
Thus, our event ‘Cocktail Hour on 2nd Street,’ was born. Along with two other local businesses, we first hosted this event in 2021 with a total of 8 participating vendors. Since at the time we were still only offering men’s wedding bands, the event focused predominantly on offerings for the groom. We reached such success that the event reoccurred the following year, and ultimately was picked up by Old City District in 2023. It has since transformed into the ‘Old City Wedding Stroll,’ an annual event with 30+ participating vendors and hundreds of attendees.

When we opened our third Washington, DC retail space in July of 2023, we noticed a similar effect: dozens of wedding vendors continued to open up and line the streets of Wisconsin Ave. Old City Philadelphia and Georgetown Main Street are similar in that they are community focused, so we felt that it was only natural that the wedding stroll concept would work in Georgetown.
Customer Experience & Looking Forward
Overall, we received wonderful feedback from local attendees who admired the design and structure of the stroll. They said they discovered spots they may have missed before, and enjoyed chatting with the businesses about their offerings. Georgetown is truly a neighborhood full of hidden gems, and events like this help to uplift the local community that gives it its charm.
Throughout our marketing efforts, we’ve noticed there is a growing desire for events that provide a memorable experience for people making milestone purchases. We are excited to continue the momentum from this year and expand Hitched on Main Street to include even more businesses and attendees in the coming years.
